FEATURES

DATA CENTER–FOCUSED MODULE CHILLER “UNIVERSAL SMART X” - KEY FEATURES
CHILLERS FOR THE BEST ANSWER TO EVOLVING DATA CENTER DEMANDS
BEYOND DRY COOLERS. WHY ARE CHILLERS THE PREFERRED CHOICE?

In recent years, data center market has seen continued growth in large-scale facilities, alongside the expansion of smaller, distributed data centers in both urban and regional areas. As required capacities and operating models become increasingly diverse, modular chillers offer an ideal solution. Each module can operate independently, while multiple units can be combined to provide flexible, scalable cooling capacity.
Data centers also face unique challenges, including fluctuating loads caused by future changes in GPU configurations, complex cooling requirements involving both air and liquid cooling, and limited installation space. Data center-focused chillers address these challenges by delivering reliable cooling performance and flexible system design creating a cooling infrastructure suited to long-term operation.

SUPER HIGH-SPEED CAPACITY RECOVERY

SUPER HIGH-SPEED RESTART AFTER POWER RECOVERY REDUCES STORAGE TANK SIZE AND COST

To rapidly provide chilled water following a recovery after power failure, the startup recovery time (time required to reach 100% capacity after power recovery) has been significantly reduced from 4 minutes and 5 seconds on the previous DC model to 2 minutes 30 seconds (70HP) on the new DC model. In addition, the optional 60HP model achieves a super high-speed restart in just 1 minute and 57 seconds. By minimizing chiller shutdown time, the storage tank capacity required for emergency is reduced (approximately 907L in 70HP equivalent system example). This reduces both the installation footprint and initial investment.

[Image]Startup recovery time comparison between previous and new DC models

  • *1. For high-speed startup to reach 100% operating capacity, sufficient flow and load must be available and no control intervention, such as water temperature control, must occur.
Depending on the load conditions at restart, the system may not reach 100% capacity.
*2. While the chiller is stopped, chilled water must be supplied from the storage tank. Shortening the shutdown period can therefore help reduce the required storage tank size.
    * [Example] 70HP Class with 200kW, ΔT=5℃, and flow rate 573L/min
    Previous DC model (4min and 5sec=245sec): 573(L/min)x245/60(min)=2,340L New DC model (2min 30sec=150sec): 573(L/min)x150/60(min)=1,433L
    907L(2,340L-1,433L) reduction is expected.

SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED COP AT SUPPLY WATER TEMPERATURES OF 15°C OR HIGHER

EXPANDED ROTARY COMPRESSOR OPERATING RANGE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVES COP AT SUPPLY WATER TEMPERATURES OF 15°C AND ABOVE

In the supply water temperature range of 15℃ and above where data center cooling needs it most, the expanded rotary compressor operating range and optimized refrigeration cycle control brought energy savings and lower PUE. Compared with the previous model, COP has improved by approximately 54% at 25℃ and 92% at 30℃, helping data centers achieve stringent PUE targets.

THDi<5% HELPS STABLE SYSTEM OPERATION

STANDARD PWM CONVERTER DELIVERS THDi<5% AND 99% POWER FACTOR

A standard PWM converter cuts 5th harmonic by 90% and delivers THDi (Total Harmonic Distortion)<5% at rated operation. This helps minimize harmonic-related issues while reducing the required generator and incoming power capacities. In addition, a 99% power factor also lowers load current and power loss, with potential savings on base electricity charges. It also enables downsizing power transformers, wiring, and incoming power equipment.
